Ilves sports director Timo Koskela, 42, continues in his role with a new contract running until spring 2025.
Ilves and sports director Timo Koskela have agreed on a three-year contract extension. Koskela has one year left of his current contract and the extension, which comes into effect next spring, covers the 2022–2025 seasons.
Timo Koskela has worked for Ilves Hockey Oy since 2018, when he started as a player coordinator while also working as a scout for the St. Louis Blues. A year later he left his job as a NHL scout and began in his current role as the sports director of Ilves.
– It’s great that Timo is committed to continue his long-term work for Ilves. He has brought a huge amount of knowledge into our player scouting and team building processes. Ilves organization’s credibility and appeal among players and other stakeholders in ice hockey has improved, which has resulted in overall development of our sports operations, says Ilves CEO Risto Jalo.
Starting his fourth season in the Ilves organization, Koskela believes the club’s long-term work, which is based on continuing development, will lead towards success.
– It was easy to commit and sign the contract extension offered by Ilves. The versatility, competitivity and upcoming chances of the job are very exciting and motivating. As an organization we have found our own way of working and thus have been able to develop our sports operations in cooperation. We want to keep developing on all different areas and battle for success in the competition that keeps getting tighter, says Koskela.
