Ilves defenseman Jarkko Parikka, 24, has been selected to Finland’s roster for the Karjala tournament. Forward Balázs Sebők, 26, was called up to Hungary’s national team. Defensemen Karri Aho, 19, Leo Lööf, 19, and Otto Heinonen and forwards Jakub Kos, 18, and Jani Nyman, 17, will join their national junior teams during the international break next week.
Finland will host Russia, Czech Republic and Sweden in a Euro Hockey Tour tournament to be played in Helsinki 11–14 November. Ilves defenseman Jarkko Parikka was chosen to the Finnish team after scoring five points (4 goals, 1 assist) in 17 Liiga games this season. His plus-minus rating is +8. The defenseman has earned a call-up to the national team for the fourth year in a row.
The Hungarian national team will play against Italy and Ukraine in a tournament in Budapest 11–13 November. Hungary’s team includes Ilves forward Balázs Sebők, who has scored five points (five assists) in 15 Liiga games this season.
Swedish, Finnish, Russian and Czech U20 national teams will compete at the Four Nations Tournament in Ängelholm, Sweden, 12–14 November. Ilves defenseman Leo Lööf was selected to the Swedish team, defenseman Karri Aho to the Finnish team and forward Jakub Kos to the Czech team.
After joining Ilves in the spring, Lööf has scored three goals and added two assists in 17 games. His plus-minus rating +11 is joint-best in the Liiga. In addition to his five Liiga games this season Aho has played five Mestis games for KOOVEE and two games for the Ilves U20 team. The defenseman has scored one goal in in Mestis and registered five assists in the U20 league. Kos has picked up one assist in his four Liiga games and scored five points (one goal, four assists) in four games in the U20 league.
The Finnish U18 national team will face Switzerland, Sweden, Czech Republic and USA in a tournament in Monthey, Switzerland, 10–14 November. Ilves defenseman Otto Heinonen and forward Jani Nyman are included in the Finnish roster. Nyman has already made his debut in Liiga this season and registered one assist in four games.
Heinonen has totaled two goals and three assistst in 15 games in the U20 league. Nyman has scored eight points (three goals, five assists) in six games for KOOVEE and four points (two goals, two assists) in three games for Ilves U20 team.
The Finnish women’s national team will play three games against Canada next week. The first one takes place in Helsinki 11 November and the last two will be played in Turku 13–14 November. The Finnish roster includes goaltender Anni Keisala, 24, and forward Sanni Vanhanen, 16. Both of them also represented Finland in the 2021 IIHF Women’s World Championship. Vanhanen has continued to play for both Tappara U16 boys team and Ilves women’s team this season.
