Ilves forward Jakub Kos, 18, who was part of the Czech U20 preliminary team for the 2022 IIHF World Junior Championship, has been selected to the final roster. The tournament starts tomorrow and takes place in Edmonton and Red Deer, Canada, December 26 – January 5.
Jakub Kos has played his first Liiga games this season, which is his third season at Ilves. In his seven games the forward has registered two assists. He has also scored one goal in his six Mestis games for KOOVEE and five points (1 goal, 4 assists) in four games for the Ilves U20 team. In the Czech U20 team the forward has played nine games this season.
In the spring Kos and Ilves agreed on a two-year contract that includes an option for another year. The forward was drafted 184th overall by the Florida Panthers in the sixth round of the 2021 NHL Entry Draft.
The two other Ilves players in the tournament are defensemen Leo Lööf, 19, and Karri Aho, 19.
