Ilves forward Joona Ikonen has been called up to the Finnish national team that starts the season in a Euro Hockey Tour tournament in Turku next week. Goaltender Marek Langhamer and defenseman Dominik Mašín were selected to the Czech national team and forward Balázs Sebők to the Hungarian national team.
Finland will host the Karjala tournament in Turku 10–13 November. Leijonien joukkueeseen valittiin Ilves forward and vice-captain Joona Ikonen, 24, was selected to Finland’s roster. The forward has scored 12 points (7 goals, 5 assists) in 17 games in the Finnish league (Liiga) and 5 points (4 goals, 1 assists) in 7 CHL games this season. The product of the Ilves junior academy will make his national team debut in the tournament.

Czechia’s team in the Karjala tournament includes Ilves goaltender Marek Langhamer, 28, and defenseman Dominik Mašín, 26. Langhamer has recorded 9 wins, 3 shutouts and save percentage 93,26 in 15 Liiga games this season. In the 5 CHL games his save percentage was 91,0. Mašín has scored two goals and one assist in 18 Liiga games and recorded one assists in 6 CHL games this season.
Balázs Sebők, 27, is part of the Hungarian national team that hosts the Tamás Sárközy Memorial tournament in Budapest 10–13 November. The forward scored 3 points (1 goal, 2 assists) in six CHL games and has added four assists in 14 Liiga games this season. Hungary won promotion to the top division at the 2022 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship Division I Group A last spring and will play in the same group with Finland at the 2023 IIHF Ice Hockey World Championship in Tampere next spring.
Finland’s U20 national team will take part in the tournament in Ostrava, Czechia 9–13 November with two teams. It will be the last tournament for the Young Lions before the 2023 World Junior Ice Hockey Championships in Canada at the turn of the year. Forward Jani Nyman, 18, was selected to the main team and forwards Samu Bau, 18, and Joona Korhonen, 19, to the challenger team. Forward Jakub Kos, 19, is part of Czechia’s main team.
Nyman has scored 5 goals and 3 assists in 13 Liiga games and one goal in 4 CHL games. He has also recorded 6 points (5 goals, 1 assist) in 2 games he has played for the Ilves U20 team. Bau has scored 8 points (2 goals, 6 assists) in 9 games for the Ilves U20 team and 4 points (3 goals, 1 assist) in 7 Mestis games for KOOVEE. Korhonen’s numbers are 15 points (5 goals, 10 assists) in 11 games for the U20 team and 4 points (2 goals, 2 assists) in 7 games for KOOVEE. Kos has scored 11 points (2 goals, 9 assists) in 8 games for the U20 team and 4 points (1 goal, 3 assists) in 7 games for KOOVEE.
Ilves forward Emil Järventie, 17, was selected to Finland’s U18 national team that will play in a tournament in Plymouth, USA 8–12 November. Järventie has scored 18 (8 goals, 10 assists) in 19 games for the Ilves U20 team and has also played 3 Mestis games for KOOVEE.
World U17 Hockey Challenge takes part in Canada 3–12 November. Finnish U17 team includes Ilves defenseman Sebastian Soini, 16, who has recorded 2 goals and 5 assists in 19 games for the Ilves U20 team. Defenseman David Svozil, 16, and forward Ondřej Kos, 16, are part of the Czech team. Svozil has scored 6 points (4 goals, 2 assists) and 16 games for the Ilves U20 team and 5 points (1 goal, 4 assists) in 6 games for the Ilves U18 team. Kos has added 5 assists in 9 games for the U20 team and 1 assist in 4 games for the U18 team.
